Lisa ParkAs I get ready to go to Washington, DC, I want to take a moment to introduce you to my roommate during the NAFSA 2008 conference,?Lisa Park of The Admission Advisory Group.

Lisa and I met in 1994. I was a study abroad advisor at the University of California, Irvine's Center for International Education and Lisa was at Stanford University's Bechtel International Center's Overseas Resource Center, where she managed?study abroad and competitive international scholarship (Rhodes, Marshall, Fulbright) advising services.

Lisa went on to become the Assistant Director of MBA Admissions at Stanford Graduate School of Business, where she developed special expertise in international recruiting, international academic credentials and visa issues.

Lisa and I worked together for a number of years as members of NAFSA's TechSIG (technology special interest group). We gave our first presentation together at the NAFSA annual conference in 1995, which I wrote about it "Revisiting 1995: NAFSA New Orleans". We?were honored, along with John Pearson of Stanford University, to receive the NAFSA Region 12 Regional Service Award in 1999 for our efforts in helping our colleagues understand the use technology within international education.

These days we live and work in different states and, like many NAFSAns, we enjoy having the opportunity to spend time with each other and reconnect during NAFSA conferences.

Lisa continues to be very interested in the use of technology within international education. If you see her at NAFSA08, please take the time to say "Hi!".?I'm sure she'll be willing to share plenty of stories about our NAFSA adventures — like the time she woke up around 4 a.m. to see the glow of my laptop screen as I was working in my bed on the final points for a presentation!
