How to ruin your tastebuds by going abroad (French version)

Food, glorious food! Every culture, every town, every household has its own specialities that are not to be missed. How we experience and learn to enjoy what we eat while we're abroad can ruin our tastebuds forever.

And I mean that in a positive way. That is, you can ruin your tastebuds by educating your palate.

Every time I travel to a new place, I'm able to experience new tastes as well as discover new variations on tastes that I know from my own culture.

In France, I have been trying to experience different types of foods and dining experiences. Because of the work that I'm doing on this trip, I'm not interested in the high-end experiences. I'm interested in what Parisians eat when they are out and about.

Crepes.?Crepes for lunch and dinner. Chicken, cheese, mushrooms.?Crepes for a snack. Crepes for dessert.

Ah, and there we find my favorite crepe icon confused How to ruin your tastebuds by going abroad (French version) Nutella and banana.??Put those two together in a crepe and?voila! --?Heaven!

I "discovered" Nutella during my first study abroad experience in the Middle East. Ever since then Nutella and bananas has been a lovely indulgence every once in a while, and especially when I'm abroad. The taste brings back many memories of travels and friends and adventures.

So now the French crepe has joined other foods that bring back memories of enjoying them in a "traditional cultural form" -- such as felafels in Palestine, tea and scones in England,?chai and curries in India,?gyros and baklava in Greece and, yes, the all-American hamburger.

What foods bring back memories of travel and adventures abroad for you?
